Moby
New York rave records came first: Go, built on a sample from Twin Peaks, pulled Moby out of the early-90s club underground in 1991. Play, released on Mute in 1999, cut old blues and gospel field recordings into downtempo pop and made Porcelain and Natural Blues songs people knew without knowing who made them. Later albums come out through Mute and his own Little Idiot imprint, and he has been blunt about hating touring, so his recorded sets are scarcer than a catalogue that size would suggest.
