Daft Punk
Paris duo who built French house out of filtered disco loops, first on Homework in 1997 and then Discovery, whose One More Time became one of dance music's biggest crossover hits. Daft Punk's Alive 2006/2007 tour, performed in robot helmets from an LED pyramid, reset expectations for what a dance act's live show should look like and is still copied at festivals. Random Access Memories swapped samplers for session players including Nile Rodgers, took Album of the Year at the 2014 Grammys, and gave them Get Lucky. The pair split in February 2021, and Thomas Bangalter has since flatly ruled out a reunion.
